Drama ensued on Thursday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja as Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was briefly stopped by immigration officials while attempting to board a UK-bound flight with her husband for her stepson’s graduation. According to reports, the Kogi Senator was informed that her name appeared on a watch list, prompting her temporary detention, which was later clarified, and she was released.
The incident follows recent controversy surrounding Akpoti-Uduaghan, including her suspension from the Senate after she publicly protested a change in her assigned seat. She later accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment, an allegation he has firmly denied.
It remains unclear who authorized the inclusion of her name on the watch list or the reasons behind it. No official statement has yet been issued by immigration authorities or the Senate leadership regarding the incident.
