The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially named Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda as its new National Chairman, following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje due to health reasons.
Yilwatda, who currently serves as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and is a former university academic, was ratified by the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) during a session held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, in Abuja. His appointment followed a late-night strategy meeting between President Bola Tinubu and APC governors. The new chairman was sworn in at 2:50 p.m., marking the beginning of his tenure as leader of Nigeria’s ruling party.
Yilwatda’s emergence is seen as a strategic move aimed at strengthening the party’s internal cohesion and positioning ahead of future national elections.
