President Bola Tinubu has named Mr. Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the Acting Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), effective immediately. The appointment comes as the current AGF, Dr. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, proceeds on pre-retirement leave.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. Ogunjimi, a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in financial management, has held key roles in both the public and private sectors. His previous positions include Director of Funds at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) and Director of Finance and Accounts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ogunjimi’s extensive qualifications include being a chartered accountant, certified fraud examiner, chartered stockbroker, and chartered security and investment specialist.
President Tinubu expressed confidence in Ogunjimi’s ability to lead, citing his extensive experience and skills as assets that will ensure the Office of the Accountant General continues to operate effectively.
The President also acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing AGF, Dr. Madein, praising her dedication and service to the nation. Dr. Madein, who has served diligently, is set to retire on March 7, 2025, upon reaching the statutory retirement age of 60.
