President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday emphasized the importance of peace and unity in Nigeria, asserting that despite differing political opinions, Nigerians remain one people. His remarks were made during the inauguration of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex (BATTIC) at the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) headquarters in Abuja.
Drawing a parallel between Nigerians and the residents of a building with separate rooms, Tinubu stressed the necessity of working together for the greater good.
Upon his arrival at the NIS headquarters, the President was welcomed by the Minister of Interior, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap.
BATTIC, which is equipped with several cutting-edge facilities, aims to enhance national security. These include the Command and Control Centre, NIS Data Centre, ECOWAS Biometric Card Production Centre, Interior Data Centre, and a 0.5KW solar power plant. According to Nandap, the complex will play a pivotal role in improving border security by evaluating the risk of incoming individuals, identifying irregular migration patterns, and monitoring unmanned borders.
The complex is set to become a model for leveraging technology to safeguard Nigeria’s borders and promote national security.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by key figures, including the President’s Chief of Staff, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN).
