Russia says its consulate in the Iranian city of Isfahan was damaged during an attack that targeted a nearby provincial government building.
According to Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, the incident occurred on March 8 when the governor’s administration building close to the consulate came under attack. The blast caused damage to the diplomatic mission, shattering windows in both the office section and residential apartments.
Zakharova said several consulate employees were knocked back by the shockwave but confirmed that no fatalities or serious injuries were recorded.
Condemning the incident, she described attacks on diplomatic missions as a “blatant violation” of international conventions and urged all parties involved in the conflict to respect the inviolability of diplomatic facilities and ensure the safety of personnel.
The development comes amid escalating hostilities in the region, with Moscow also calling for an end to the fighting and a return to negotiations.
