A late penalty from Lamine Yamal rescued FC Barcelona from defeat in their clash against Newcastle United, as the Spanish side secured a hard-fought draw at St James’ Park.
Newcastle appeared on course for victory after taking the lead in a competitive encounter, putting the visitors under sustained pressure for much of the match. Barcelona, however, continued to push for an equaliser as the game entered its closing stages.
Their persistence paid off when the referee awarded a late penalty, which Yamal calmly converted to level the score and deny the Premier League side a win.
The result ensured Barcelona avoided defeat away from home, while Newcastle were left frustrated after conceding in the final moments despite an otherwise strong performance.
