Former Rivers State governorship candidate, Tonye Cole, has criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over what he described as the minister’s unclear political stance and shifting allegiances.
Speaking during an interview, Cole stressed that Nigerians deserve clarity regarding Wike’s political loyalty, especially as the country faces pressing governance challenges.
“Wike can’t continue to confuse Nigerians about his loyalty. Leadership requires transparency, and citizens must know where their leaders truly stand,” Cole stated.
Furthermore, Cole argued that Wike’s political maneuvers have created unnecessary distractions in Rivers State and at the national level.
According to him, such ambiguity erodes public trust and weakens the democratic process.
In addition, the former governorship candidate urged political leaders to be forthright with their commitments. He maintained that consistency in leadership is vital for stability and progress, especially in a multi-party democracy like Nigeria’s.
As political realignments intensify ahead of future elections, observers say calls for greater accountability from leaders like Wike will likely grow louder.
