Professor Gaskin Igbineweka, a UK-based Nigerian legal practitioner and philanthropist, has urged Nigerians to stop criticizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his alleged involvement in legal issues in the United States. In a press release issued in Benin City, Igbineweka — who also serves as President of the Nigerian Welfare Club in the UK — said any past legal matter involving the President in the U.S. has been legally nullified and thus should not be used to cast aspersions on his leadership.
“Even if the President committed any crime in the U.S. when he was there, such conviction had been vitiated, and his slate wiped clean,” Igbineweka said. He appealed to Nigerians to respect the office of the President, stressing that Tinubu is the number one citizen of the “most popular black nation on Earth.”
Describing himself as a patriot, Igbineweka added that he would support any democratically elected Nigerian president, regardless of political or ethnic background.
