President Bola Tinubu has withdrawn the reappointment of Dr. Muheeba Dankaka as Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), replacing her with former House of Representatives member Ayo Omidiran. Dankaka’s tenure was marked by controversy.
Mohammed Musa has been appointed FCC Secretary, while Kayode Oladele from Ogun State retains his position as Commissioner, having previously served as Acting Chairman after Dankaka’s first term expired.
The President renewed the appointments of Lawal Ya’u Roni (Jigawa), Abubakar Atiku Bunu (Kebbi), and Eludayo Eluyemi (Osun) for a second term, and named 33 new commissioners representing all states and the FCT.
Notable appointees include Obina Oriaku (Abia), Dora Ebong (Akwa Ibom), Victor Sabor Edoror (Edo), Ibrahim Baba Mairiga (Gombe), Jerry Alagbaoso (Imo), Bobboi Bala Kaigama (Taraba), and Solomon Ayuba Dagami (FCT).
The appointments are expected to bolster the FCC’s mandate of ensuring equitable representation and fairness in Nigeria’s public service recruitment and distribution of resources.
