The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has passed away at the age of 90. He died in the early hours of Monday, July 7, according to reports from Persecondnews.
His passing comes just days after celebrations marking both his 90th birthday and the first anniversary of his coronation—events that had received a congratulatory message from President Bola Tinubu.
Oba Olakulehin ascended the throne following the death of his predecessor, Oba Lekan Balogun, who died over a year ago. His tenure as the traditional ruler of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, was marked by efforts to preserve the cultural heritage and unity of the ancient city.
Further official announcements and traditional rites are expected from the Olubadan-in-Council in the coming days.
