The Northern States Governors’ Forum, led by Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya, has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027, citing significant strides in infrastructure, security, energy, and agriculture that have benefited the northern region.
The endorsement was announced during an interactive session organized by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation in Kaduna on Tuesday.
Governor Yahaya praised the Tinubu administration for making tangible progress despite economic and security challenges, stating:
“What we find is an administration that has delivered meaningful results for our region… The evidence of progress is visible across our region.”
Key Achievements Highlighted
Yahaya pointed to several major federal projects under President Tinubu that are transforming Northern Nigeria, including:
- Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway
- Kano-Katsina-Maradi Rail Line
- Kaduna Refinery Rehabilitation
- Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Gas Pipeline
- Drilling in Kolmani Oilfields
These initiatives, he said, are poised to drive industrialization and enhance energy security across the North.
He also commended the neutralization of over 300 terrorist and bandit leaders, attributing it to improved intelligence and coordinated security efforts.
Livestock Ministry and Economic Reforms
The governor hailed the creation of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development as a “generational breakthrough” for modernizing Nigeria’s pastoral economy.
Addressing economic reforms, Yahaya acknowledged the hardship caused by fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate unification but stressed that such policies are necessary for long-term stability.
Call for Regional Support and Unity
Yahaya urged northern stakeholders to complement federal efforts by investing in education, infrastructure, and healthcare, while calling on traditional and religious leaders to continue their roles in peacebuilding.
“In 2027, we must reward performance and hard work, and by that measure, President Tinubu has earned our continued support.”
He also described the political alliance between the North and South-West as a stabilizing force for Nigeria’s unity.
