The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reported early arrival of election materials and ad hoc staff across polling units in Abuja on Saturday ahead of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), all polling units visited in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) were ready for voting by 8:15 a.m., with security personnel from the police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) present to maintain order.
At Polling Unit 16, Area 8, City Centre, AMAC, Presiding Officer Emmanuel Miracle said, “We’re set and waiting for the time for commencement of the election.” Similarly, polling units 072 and 073 had all electoral materials in place, with presiding officers Hellen David and Mohammed Umar confirming readiness.
Salihu Abubakar, APC party agent at Unit 073, noted the timely arrival of security agents and INEC staff and expressed confidence that the election would proceed peacefully.
