A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has criticized the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, arguing that it is not the solution to the ongoing political crisis in the state.
Eze, a vocal critic of Nyesom Wike and a member of the APC faction recognized by the Rivers State High Court, stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should instead call Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to order.
According to Eze, Wike is the main instigator of the crisis, and his loss of control over the state treasury has led to his alleged disruptive actions. He accused Tinubu of turning a blind eye to the matter and warned that the move could be a test run for imposing a one-party system in Nigeria.
Eze commended Governor Sim Fubara for resisting attempts to hijack the state’s treasury, despite the setbacks he has faced. He expressed confidence that Fubara’s authority would eventually be restored.
The APC chieftain further criticized Wike for allegedly destabilizing Rivers State and suggested that his actions, influenced by external forces, have put the state in turmoil.
