The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwolu has said that new trains are in transit to Lagos to boost commuting in the state.
Sanwolu made this revelation in a statement on his X page, stating that a new year means a new milestone for Lagos.
According to him, “six new train sets are on their way to Lagos to strengthen the capacity of our Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue and Red Lines. This step will transform commuting and further drive economic growth across our state.”
“These train sets, having successfully passed factory acceptance tests, are scheduled for shipment. Once they arrive, they will increase trips on the Blue Line and prepare us for the extension to Okokomaiko upon the completion of phase two.”
Sanwolu also said that “the Phase two of the Blue Line, a 14-kilometre stretch from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko will connect even more communities, bringing our vision of seamless mobility closer to reality.”
“Since its launch in September 2023, the Blue Line has transformed commuting in Lagos with 72 daily trips along the Marina to Mile 2 corridor. With the new trains, we will increase capacity, ensuring an even faster and more efficient service for all Lagosians”.
