A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has described the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) recognition of the Mark-led executive committee as a triumph for democracy and the rule of law.
Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, the party leader emphasised that INEC’s decision to acknowledge the Mark-led faction was not only timely but also necessary to restore internal stability within the ADC.
“INEC’s recognition of the Mark-led Exco is a clear vindication of the rule of law and democratic principles. It shows that institutions in Nigeria can stand for justice,” the chieftain stated.
He explained that the party had been plagued by internal leadership disputes, which threatened its cohesion. However, with INEC’s official recognition, the ADC now has the chance to refocus on its political agenda.
Furthermore, he noted that the decision would strengthen the party’s credibility among members and supporters across the country.
In addition, the chieftain argued that the ruling underscored the importance of upholding democratic values in Nigeria’s political space.
“This is not just about ADC; it is about sending a strong message that due process and legality will always prevail over impunity,” he added.
Moving forward, the ADC chieftain called on all party members to unite behind the recognized leadership in order to consolidate gains and prepare for future elections. He stressed that with the internal crisis resolved, the ADC is better positioned to play a stronger role in Nigeria’s democratic process.
