The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has distanced itself from the reported demolition of a property allegedly belonging to the brother of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi. Obi had decried the incident as evidence of lawlessness in Nigeria, stating that his brother’s 15-year-old building was unjustly demolished in Lagos. In response, LASBCA spokesperson, Adu Ademuyiwa, clarified that the agency was not involved in the demolition.

Wale Ajetunmobi, Special Assistant on Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, advised Obi to file a report with the police to identify the individuals responsible. He also defended Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, stating the commissioner has no authority to issue court orders or approve demolitions.

“Peter Obi should report the matter to the police. They’ll help him find the people who ordered the building’s demolition,” Ajetunmobi said.

The controversy continues to draw public attention, with demands for clarity on who authorized the demolition and under what legal grounds.
