Russia has dismissed as “lies” a Financial Times report suggesting Russia is nearing completion of a shipment of drones to Iran, reiterating Moscow’s denial of such military support.
Western intelligence, cited by the Financial Times and other outlets, has alleged that Russia is preparing to deliver modified Shahed‑type unmanned aerial vehicles — alongside food and medicine — to Tehran, marking a notable shift in relations amid ongoing regional tensions.
However, Russian officials have categorically denied the report, rejecting assertions that lethal drone transfers are underway. The Kremlin’s rebuttal frames the media accounts as misinformation, with spokespersons insisting no such shipments of weaponry are being dispatched.
The conflicting claims come amid broader scrutiny of military cooperation between Moscow and Tehran, including previous Western assessments of shared intelligence and tactical support related to unmanned systems.
