ABUJA, — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will leave Abuja on Monday for a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye, as Nigeria and Türkiye move to expand bilateral cooperation with planned high-level talks, a business forum and the signing of multiple memoranda of understanding (MoUs), the Presidency said.

In a statement signed on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the visit is intended to strengthen “cordial relations” and unlock additional areas of collaboration, including security, education, social development, innovation and aviation.

The trip follows Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s official visit to Nigeria from October 19–20, 2021, which both sides have cited as a key milestone in the relationship.

According to the Presidency, Tinubu’s engagements in Türkiye will include strategic political and diplomatic discussions spanning “shared values” and priority areas such as finance, communication, trade and investment, alongside meetings between senior officials of both governments.

A central feature of the agenda is the planned execution of MoUs covering scientific research, energy, technical cooperation, media and communications, military cooperation, and protocol, among other cooperation areas. Officials said the agreements are designed to deepen institutional ties and provide a framework for implementation across sectors.

The statement also said a Nigeria–Türkiye business forum will be held during the visit, bringing together investors and private-sector leaders from both countries to explore investment opportunities and partnerships.

Members of Tinubu’s entourage expected to participate in bilateral discussions include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd.); and Chairman, House Committee on Defence, Hon. Jimi Benson. Also listed are the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Minister of Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Amb. Mohammed Mohammed.

The Presidency said Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the visit.
