The 30 newly elected council chairmen in Osun State, who won in Saturday’s polls, were officially presented with their Certificates of Return by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) on Sunday.
This confirmation was shared by OSIEC’s Information Officer, Sadiat Isiaka, who stated in a press release that the commission had formally issued the certificates to the victorious chairmen.
According to Persecondnews, despite caution from the Federal Government, including the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), and the Inspector General of Police, who expressed concerns over the conduct of the polls, the elections proceeded as planned.
Hashim Abioye, the Chairman of OSIEC, declared the results shortly after the elections, stating that all 30 chairmanship seats and 332 councilor positions were secured by candidates from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Sadiat Isiaka conveyed that Abioye congratulated the elected chairmen, urging them to serve the people with dignity and uphold democratic principles in their roles.
The swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected chairmen is scheduled to take place at the Osun State Government House in Oke-Fia, Osogbo, later today.
