GUSAU, — Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has commenced a statewide engagement with stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in an effort his administration says is aimed at strengthening party cohesion and reviewing community-level issues across the state.
The first session of the stakeholder series held Tuesday at the Rescue Hall, Government House, Gusau, according to a statement credited to the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris.
Idris described the meetings as a regular internal consultation platform for strategy and broad-based discussion on political developments affecting the PDP and governance issues affecting Zamfara.
The engagement, he said, began with PDP stakeholders from Gummi and Maru Local Government Areas, with plans to host similar sessions covering all 14 local government areas in the coming weeks.
According to the statement, the format is designed to give the governor direct feedback from party leaders and local actors, including “concerns, advice and critical evaluation” of security, development and party matters within their respective communities.
The spokesperson added that the consultations are intended to reinforce the PDP’s grassroots structure and demonstrate that the party remains influential across the state, as Lawal’s government continues its “rescue” agenda messaging.
No communique was issued publicly after the opening session, but party sources said subsequent meetings will broaden participation to include stakeholders from the remaining councils as the administration consolidates internal alignment ahead of upcoming political and policy cycles.
