German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has praised the enduring and dynamic relationship between Germany and Nigeria, emphasizing the strong cultural, political, and economic ties that form the foundation of their partnership.
During his visit to Nigeria, Steinmeier highlighted the vibrant cultural exchanges between the two nations, particularly in the arts.
“We have a very, very vivid exchange of artists between Germany and Nigeria. What we are seeing here is really a documentation of the variety of Nigerian artists,” he said.
Steinmeier expressed enthusiasm for the ongoing efforts to deepen bilateral relations, reflecting on discussions with President Bola Tinubu.
“I think that is what the two presidents, myself and the Nigerian president, were expressing and explaining this morning during the press conference. We are trying to deepen our relations, and that cannot be done without the presence on both sides,” he remarked.
The German President also underscored the value of continuous engagement, recounting his earlier meetings with Nigerian leaders, including President Tinubu.
“I was very happy to receive your president last year in Germany, and I’m happy to be here again. This is, meanwhile, my third visit. I know a little bit about Nigeria, but I have to come very often in the future to know everything,” he concluded.
The visit underscores Germany’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Nigeria, with a focus on fostering cultural exchange, political dialogue, and economic collaboration.
