Fresh cracks have emerged within the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State after President Bola Tinubu’s daughter, the Iyaloja General of Nigeria, Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo publicly distanced herself from two influential political blocs within the party, the Justice Forum and Mandate Movement.
The development, captured in a video circulating online, has intensified speculation over growing divisions within the Lagos APC ahead of future political contests in the state.
In the video, Mrs Folashade reportedly rejected suggestions linking her political activities to either faction, insisting she does not belong to the Justice Forum or the Mandate Movement, both of which have historically played major roles in Lagos politics and the APC’s internal structure.
Her comments have sparked reactions among party members and political observers, many of whom view the statement as a sign of deepening rivalry within the ruling party’s Lagos chapter.
The Mandate Movement is widely regarded as one of the dominant political groups associated with Tinubu’s longstanding influence in Lagos politics, while the Justice Forum has also remained a powerful bloc within the APC’s state structure.
Party insiders say disagreements over succession plans, appointments and control of party machinery have contributed to rising tensions among competing interests within the Lagos APC.
Although no official response had been issued by leaders of the two groups at the time of filing this report, some members reportedly dismissed the controversy as internal political positioning ahead of the 2027 elections.
Political analysts, however, said the public rejection of the factions by a member of the president’s family could further fuel speculation about shifting alliances and power struggles within the party.
The APC has continued to dominate Lagos politics for over two decades, but recent internal disputes have raised concerns about unity within the state chapter.
Observers believe the latest controversy may influence ongoing negotiations among party stakeholders as preparations gradually begin for future electoral contests and leadership arrangements in Lagos State.
