Troops of the Joint Task Force (North-East) have arrested suspected terrorist collaborators and recovered drones and other logistics during coordinated operations in Adamawa State and Borno State, military authorities said.
In a statement issued in Maiduguri, Theatre Command spokesperson Sani Uba said troops of Sector 4 under the 28 Task Force Brigade, working with local vigilantes and hunters, arrested 28-year-old Ismail Muhammed in the Visik General area of Hong Local Government Area. The suspect was described as a logistics supplier to insurgents.
“Items recovered from the suspect included one AK-47 magazine, rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, military accoutrements, and assorted foodstuffs. The suspect is currently in custody, undergoing further investigation,” the statement said.
In a separate operation along the Visik River line in Madagali Local Government Area, troops ambushed and killed a suspected terrorist commander identified as Abdullahi Mafa, recovering an AK-47 rifle and a loaded magazine. Acting on intelligence, troops also arrested a 64-year-old suspect, Dauda Gubula, at Madagali Motor Park for allegedly supplying drones to insurgents. Recovered items included two aerial drones, accessories, and 20 solar power banks, which the military said were intended for weaponisation and operational use.
Meanwhile, troops working with local vigilantes and the Civilian Joint Task Force repelled insurgent activity in Ngamdu, killing a suspected informant attempting to breach defensive positions and recovering additional logistics.
Military authorities said the operations are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle insurgent supply networks, disrupt logistics chains, and strengthen security across the North-East.
