Activist Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan (VDM), has confirmed that N78m has been recovered from the N180 million he claimed was missing from his NGO’s account after it was hacked.
VeryDarMan made this revelation in a video on his Instagram account on Monday, December 30
Recall that Eziguide had reported that the activist had claimed that his NGO, Martins Vincent Otse Initiative’s website was hacked and the sum of N180 million was missing.
According to Otse, N78 million has been recovered from the tracked suspect who said that the other complicit has flee to Ghana
“We have recovered N78 million, even though the suspect pointed out that the person he did it with has ran to Ghana. Hopefully, we will be going to Ghana very soon.”
Otse also revealed that analysis carried out on the MVOI website revealed that the site has been under attack from various countries – 614 attacks from the US, 68 from Nigeria, 4 from Moldova, 3 from Singapore, and 3 from Israel.
“The most intense attack occurred on December 17 with 590 attacks originating from an IP address in the United State potentially masked by a VPN,” he added
According to him, attack objectives were disrupting the service, attempting to cause chaos or dissatisfaction undermining the website functionally, unauthorized access to financial data, trying to explore vulnerability to access sensitive banking credentials, Denial of Service – overloading server resources to disrupt access to the site
According to Otse, it appears an insider was involved in the attack.
“This is not just a straight attack. I will say it is part of an insider job because it is somebody from within the team that pointed out these people (suspects). But hopefully, we would expose the people behind everything.”
Otse, however, thanked all that have reached out to him since the incident occurred.
