AC Milan confirmed on Monday that Paulo Fonseca has been relieved of his duties as head coach after less than six months in charge. The announcement came hours after Fonseca himself hinted at his departure following Milan’s 1-1 draw with Roma at San Siro.
“Yes, it’s true. I’m out,” Fonseca told reporters early Monday, adding, “That’s life … I did everything I could.”
AC Milan has named Sérgio Conceição Marceneiro da Conceição, the former FC Porto manager as the Head Coach. Their new head coach would be on a contract running until 30th of June 2026. ” the club said in an official statement. Conceição brings with him a wealth of experience and a reputation for tactical acumen, having achieved notable success with Porto.
Fonseca’s tenure began in June but yielded underwhelming results, with Milan winning only 12 of their 24 matches across all competitions. The team currently sits eighth in Serie A, far from the Champions League qualification spots expected of the club.
Conceição faces a tough task as he takes the reins at a crucial juncture in the season. He will be expected to stabilize Milan’s performances and reignite their push for European competition in Serie A.
