The poplar two-story Udoka Golden Point Hotel and Suites, located along the Onitsha-Owerri Road has been demolished by the Anambra State security outfit, Agunechemba.
In a post on X by the Anambra State New Media on Saturday, the hotel has been used as kidnappers den with shrine, graves, and live ammunition on the top floor of the building.
According the security outfit;s team leader that described the scene in a video post, he said, “We found a shrine, live ammunition, and cartridges at the time we were removing the pot, which they use for their rituals. The pot,had blood content, and has been handed over to the police (RRS, Okuzu) as evidence and exhibit.”
The Chief Press Secretary to Governor of Anambra State. Christian Aburime, confirmed the incident, stating that the demolition, embacked on by Agunechemba, followed an investigation linking the hotel to kidnapping operations.
According to Aburime, “The hotel was destroyed because investigations identified it as a kidnappers’ hideout. We discovered graves, army uniforms, live cartridges, and other items. The local community had been complaining about frequent gunshots at night but were too afraid to report due to fear of reprisal.”
He added that the government’s newly enacted Homeland Security Law of 2025 has empowered citizens and security agencies to act decisively against criminal elements.
“We are making significant progress in flushing out criminals from Anambra State. This drastic action is yielding positive results. More buildings linked to crimes such as kidnapping, robbery, and hired killings will be demolished, and their owners prosecuted,” he assured.”
Residents have praised the effort of Agunechemba in demolishing the hotel.
