The Umumba Ndiagu community in Ezeagu LGA, Enugu State was thrown into turmoil after shocking revelations that a well-known native doctor, Levi Onyeka Obu, also known as Ezeani or “E-Dey-Play-E-Dey-Show,” was allegedly operating a kidnapping and ritual killing den within his compound.
Community youths, after the rescue of a 13-year-old girl, discovered soak away pits filled with human remains, believed to be victims, including pregnant women and children, who were buried alive for ritual purposes. The gruesome findings led the angry residents to burn down Ezeani’s house and property. Viral videos showed the community uncovering what they claimed was his shrine and interrogating a man who acted as a guard for the compound. The man denied involvement but admitted he visited for rituals.
Police operatives, in collaboration with Neighborhood Watch and locals, rescued the child and arrested three suspects. Two decomposing bodies were found in a concrete-sealed pit during the operation. Ezeani fled and remains at large. The Enugu State Government has since demolished the buildings used in the criminal activities. CP Bitrus Giwa has ordered an intensified manhunt for Ezeani and his accomplices, vowing to ensure justice is served.
