A two-storey building under construction collapsed on Tuesday in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, resulting in the deaths of three people—two adult males and a teenage female—who were trapped under the rubble for hours. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed that 11 men were rescued and treated at the scene. The cause of the collapse, which occurred around 2 p.m, remains unknown.
According to Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, multiple emergency teams—including LASEMA’s Lion, Tiger, and Eagle teams—responded promptly. Heavy-duty equipment, including an excavator and floodlights, was used to aid rescue efforts. The search and rescue operation is ongoing, with support from the police, Lagos Fire and Rescue Service, LASBCA, FRSC, and LNSC to ensure a complete emergency response.
