Days of intense rainfall have unleashed renewed flooding across parts of the province, with some areas recording more than 200mm and both the Bằng and Gâm rivers rising above their highest alert levels, local authorities said.
By Tuesday, multiple districts — including Thục Phán Ward — were submerged again, only days after earlier floodwaters receded. Rising river levels and unrelenting downpours have inundated homes, damaged property and left some communities completely cut off.
The provincial disaster management committee warned that soil saturation has now exceeded 85%, sharply increasing the risk of further landslides and flash floods in mountainous areas. At least 13 landslides have been reported along national highways, disrupting traffic and hampering the delivery of relief supplies.
Emergency teams have been deployed and rescue forces placed on round-the-clock duty as evacuations continue. Officials urged residents in high-risk zones to move immediately to safer ground and to heed evacuation orders and weather bulletins as conditions evolve.
Transport authorities said clearance crews are working to reopen blocked routes, but continued instability on steep slopes and swollen waterways is complicating operations. Power and communications have been intermittently affected in some flooded neighborhoods, according to local reports.
Meteorologists forecast that heavy rain will persist in the coming days, keeping river levels elevated and the risk of secondary disasters high. Authorities have issued urgent warnings, advising people living near rivers, on hillsides or below unstable slopes to relocate, avoid crossing floodwaters, and prepare essential supplies.
Residents were also asked to report new landslides, road washouts or isolated households to local officials to speed up response and assistance efforts.
