The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Joash Amupitan, convened a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.
The session, held four days after the Federal Capital Territory council elections and by-elections in Rivers and Kano states, focused on reviewing the outcomes of these polls. It also provided a platform for RECs to share feedback on operational challenges and preparations for the 2027 general election.
All RECs from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory attended the meeting. The forum of state independent electoral commissions was also present on a courtesy visit. The delegation’s leader stated that the engagement aims to foster collaboration with INEC and strengthen local government elections nationwide.
