All roads will indeed lead to Center Point Event Center, Abuja, on December 6, when Miss Africa International 2025 brings together delegates from across the continent for an evening of pageantry, culture and advocacy.
Founded by event entrepreneur Dr. Anita May Igoni, the pageant has carved a niche as a platform that mixes glamour with purpose. This year’s edition, she says, is designed to push that identity even further.
“Miss Africa International 2025 is not just a pageant; it is a celebration of Africa’s diverse beauty, culture, and strength,” Dr. Anita explained. “Through this platform, we honour the elegance, intelligence, and confidence of African women, showcasing to the world that our continent’s beauty is as rich as its heritage.”
Conceived to spotlight not only physical beauty but also the strength and intellect of young African women, the competition requires each contestant to champion a personal advocacy track, ranging from education and entrepreneurship to gender equality and social change. “Our goal is to help young women find their voice and use it for advocacy in education, entrepreneurship, and social change,” she noted.
Organisers say delegates from over 30 African countries are expected, bringing their languages, traditions and personal stories to a stage that has steadily grown in profile since the brand’s inception. The show will feature high-concept African fashion, live cultural performances, and presentations on humanitarian initiatives tied to each contestant’s project.
Beyond the spotlight, Abuja’s hospitality and creative sectors are also gearing up. With contestants, their teams, judges, media and fans arriving from across Africa and the diaspora, hotels, designers, makeup artists, photographers and event vendors are hoping for a much-needed boost in what has been a challenging economic year.
Despite the prevailing economic headwinds, Dr. Anita remains bullish about the pageant’s sustainability, crediting a tight-knit team and loyal sponsors for keeping the vision alive. “My biggest motivation is seeing how far our queens go after the show. Watching them grow into changemakers across different sectors is what keeps me going,” she said.
Positioned as “more than crowns and sashes,” Miss Africa International 2025 aims to project a modern image of African womanhood — confident, cultured and impact-driven — as Abuja gets ready for a night of glitz, grace and the celebration of an evolving African identity on the global stage.
