The President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, has emphasized that President Bola Tinubu must be allowed to complete two full terms in office to balance Nigeria’s political power rotation.

Speaking at a press briefing, Sukubo noted that the North had enjoyed uninterrupted leadership under former President Muhammadu Buhari for eight years. Therefore, according to him, equity and fairness demand that the South should also have its turn without interference or political instability.

Furthermore, the NYCN leader stressed that consistent respect for zoning and rotation agreements helps promote unity in Nigeria’s diverse political landscape. He argued that undermining Tinubu’s administration midway could create unnecessary tension and threaten the country’s fragile democracy.

In addition, Sukubo urged political stakeholders to set aside personal ambitions and instead support policies that would strengthen governance, development, and national cohesion. He also called on Nigerian youths to remain vigilant and ensure that leaders are held accountable, regardless of region or party affiliation.

Moreover, the NYCN President highlighted the importance of peace and stability, especially at a time when the nation is grappling with economic challenges and security concerns. According to him, completing the Southern turn in leadership will further solidify the principle of fairness, which has long been a cornerstone of Nigeria’s democratic practice.

Sukubo’s remarks reflect growing calls from Southern leaders and youth groups who believe that President Tinubu’s administration must be given the opportunity to serve its full course. If respected, this rotational balance could strengthen national trust and prevent regional marginalization in future elections.
