Several climate and environmental groups vowed to litigate the incoming Trump administration’s coming actions expanding drilling, fossil fuel leasing and critical mineral development, CNN reports
“We’ll fight him at every step,” said Kierán Suckling, executive director at the Center for Biological Diversity, a nonprofit group focused on protecting endangered species that sued the Trump and Biden administrations alike.
Environmental groups waged successful lawsuits against several attempts by the Trump administration to expand fossil fuel development during his first term and said they would redouble their efforts.
“We had great success defending communities and setting critical legal precedent on climate during the first Trump administration,” said Kyle Tisdel, climate and energy program director at the Western Environmental Law Center, in a statement. “We’ll continue to fight for climate justice and a livable planet regardless of what comes our way over the next four years.”
