The collapse happened around 12:34 a.m. during a performance by renowned merengue singer Rubby Pérez, who was among those killed.
Notable figures also lost in the tragedy include former Major League Baseball players Octavio Dotel and Tony Blanco, as well as Nelsy Cruz, governor of Monte Cristi province and sister of MLB operations advisor Nelson Cruz. Rescue operations are ongoing, with emergency crews searching for potential survivors amid the rubble. The cause of the collapse remains under investigation.
