Explosions lit up the night sky over Tehran as heavy strikes hit the Iranian capital, sending thick plumes of smoke rising across parts of the city, according to local reports.
Iranian state media said a busy shopping street was among the locations struck during the bombardment. The blasts came hours after Israel announced it had begun a “broad-scale wave of strikes” targeting infrastructure linked to the Iranian regime in the capital.
Witnesses reported multiple explosions across different areas of the city, with smoke visible above buildings as emergency services responded. The latest attacks form part of a wider military campaign involving strikes on security and military facilities in Tehran and other parts of Iran.
The developments mark a further escalation in the ongoing confrontation between Israel and Iran, which has seen repeated waves of airstrikes and retaliatory attacks across the region.
