The US Embassy in Baghdad and a nearby hotel in Baghdad were struck by drones in the early hours of Tuesday, in an apparent escalation of security threats in the Iraqi capital.
Sources said the coordinated attack involved unmanned aerial vehicles aimed at both the diplomatic compound and a civilian accommodation facility, though the extent of damage and any casualties has not been immediately confirmed.
Security forces reportedly responded swiftly, with air defence systems engaged to intercept the drones, while authorities launched an investigation into the incident.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, which comes amid heightened tensions in the region and growing concerns over the safety of foreign missions and infrastructure in Iraq.
