China has once again voiced strong support for Nigeria’s campaign against terrorism, declaring its opposition to any form of foreign meddling in the country’s internal affairs.
The Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dumbai made the statement during a courtesy visit to Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru in Abuja, where he praised Nigeria’s determination to overcome insecurity and safeguard national unity.
“We support Nigeria’s fight against terrorism and firmly oppose any external interference that undermines its sovereignty,” Ambassador Cui said. He emphasized that China’s position was rooted in respect for national independence and shared development objectives, noting that cooperation between both countries has continued to grow in the areas of security, trade, and technology.
According to Dunbai, China will continue to assist Nigeria through training programmes, military equipment supply, and intelligence-sharing efforts, all aimed at strengthening the country’s counterterrorism capacity. He added that the strategic partnership between both nations reflects their mutual commitment to peace and regional stability.
In his response, Minister Badaru expressed gratitude for China’s consistent support, describing the Asian power as “a reliable friend and partner in Nigeria’s security and development efforts.” He commended Beijing for its role in defence modernization and its willingness to collaborate in tackling transnational security threats.
The meeting underscored the deepening military and diplomatic ties between the two nations, as both sides reaffirmed their commitment to a partnership based on mutual respect and non-interference.
