Music star Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Baba, has called for swift action to end the persistent killings in Benue State, saying the scale of the violence demands an urgent national response.
The singer, who hails from the state, expressed deep concern over the continued loss of lives and the suffering of affected communities.
Reacting through a video message, 2Baba said repeated expressions of sympathy have failed to change the situation.
He urged government authorities, security agencies and community leaders to focus on practical measures capable of restoring peace.
“We can’t pretend anymore.”
The entertainer stressed that the insecurity in Benue should not be viewed as a regional issue alone. According to him, the recurring attacks have become a national concern that requires collective commitment from all levels of government and society.
He also appealed for greater cooperation among political leaders, traditional institutions and residents. He said protecting lives should remain the highest priority, regardless of political, ethnic or religious differences.
“Enough is enough.”
His appeal followed another wave of deadly attacks in parts of Benue, where several people were reportedly killed and many others displaced.
The renewed violence has intensified calls for stronger security measures and better protection for vulnerable communities across the state.
In response to the deteriorating security situation, law enforcement authorities announced additional operations aimed at restoring order.
During a stakeholders’ meeting in Makurdi, police leadership unveiled a special clearance operation targeting criminal groups operating in affected areas.
