Daniel Bwala, a top aide to President Bola Tinubu, has raised concerns about Senator Ali Ndume’s allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC), suggesting the lawmaker is already siding with the opposition.
Speaking on Channels Television, Bwala said, “Senator Ali Ndume’s spirit and soul are with the coalition; it is his body that is in APC. He is already going.” He urged APC leaders to take note, adding that “it is better the way El-Rufai did: just say I am leaving.”
Ndume had recently criticized Tinubu’s emergency rule declaration in Rivers State, saying the government should focus on tackling insecurity and economic woes instead. He also warned that losing support from ex-President Buhari could pose a threat to Tinubu.
The senator’s comments come amid rising momentum for an opposition coalition led by Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Nasir El-Rufai, aiming to challenge Tinubu in 2027. As El-Rufai and his allies join the Social Democratic Party (SDP), speculation swirls that more political figures, including Atiku and Obi, may follow.
Bwala’s remarks highlight deepening cracks within the APC as realignments gather pace ahead of the next general election.
