Controversial Nigerian musician Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has been arrested by operatives of the Kwara State Police Command following a petition filed by Fuji artist Okunola Saheed, also known as Osupa.
Confirming the arrest, the police spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said the complaint contained several serious accusations against Portable.
“The petition borders on serious allegations which includes criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, character assassination, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and the use of abusive and insulting words,” the statement read.
Based on the evidence presented by the complainant, the command obtained a court warrant from a Magistrate Court in Ilorin. Acting on the order, officers tracked the singer to Abeokuta, Ogun State.
“Acting on this warrant, operatives from the Command proceeded to Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Saturday, 13th April 2025, where the suspect was apprehended at about 19:25hrs. He was immediately brought to Ilorin for further investigation,” Ejire-Adeyemi added.
Following his transfer to Ilorin, Portable gave a statement in the presence of lawyers representing both parties. “He is currently in custody, and arrangements are being made to charge him to court without delay,” the police confirmed.
The dispute stems from Portable’s alleged use of a signature phrase associated with Osupa, followed by verbal attacks online. Though the street-hop artist later offered a public apology to Osupa, blaming the outburst on his temper, the Fuji icon’s camp moved forward with legal action.
Portable is best known for his breakout single “Zaazoo,” but has frequently made headlines for controversial behavior online and offline.
