The Say No to Violence in Ebiraland (SNTVE), a prominent peace advocacy organization in Kogi Central, has denounced the recent armed attack on the family residence of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, labeling it a deliberate act meant to sow chaos and fear in the region.
In a statement released Friday, the group called on the Inspector General of Police and security agencies to promptly investigate the assault and ensure those responsible are brought to book.
“This brazen act of violence is an alarming sign of the growing insecurity in our nation. It is a direct threat to the life of Senator Natasha, her family, and the democratic values we hold dear,” the statement read.
Hon. Abdulrazak O. Mamman, speaking for the group, stressed the urgency of the matter and called for a comprehensive probe into the attack.
“We are calling on the Inspector General of Police and heads of security agencies to leave no stone unturned in identifying and prosecuting those behind this criminal act. Justice must be served to restore public confidence in our security system,” Mamman said.
The group praised Senator Natasha for her resilience and her steadfast commitment to justice, despite increasing intimidation.
“We applaud Senator Natasha for her unwavering bravery and strong will to stand by the truth, even in the face of escalating challenges. We urge her to remain focused and undeterred,” the group added.
Reaffirming its support for the senator, SNTVE also urged the federal government to strengthen her security and prevent future threats.
“We call on all well-meaning Nigerians to join us in condemning this heinous act and to demand swift and decisive action. The future of our democracy depends on safeguarding those who speak truth to power,” the group concluded.
The violent invasion of Senator Natasha’s home has triggered public outcry across Kogi and beyond, renewing demands for an end to politically motivated violence in Nigeria.
