The management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, has intensified efforts to locate Dorcas Oseghale, a 300-level Chemistry student who has been missing for four days.
Dorcas, with matriculation number CHM/2021/165, was last seen on Thursday evening, August 7, 2025, after telling a friend she was going to buy food at the Students’ Village along Ede Road. Since then, her phone lines have remained unreachable.
In a statement on Sunday, university spokesperson Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju confirmed that the case has been formally reported to the Osun State Police Command to widen the search.
“On August 7, at about 3:00 p.m., news of her disappearance surfaced on a students’ social media platform. By 6:10 p.m., students from her department, alongside her roommate, formally reported the case to the Security Unit,” Olarewaju said.
OAU’s security team assigned three officers to work with the students and hand over initial findings to the police, who have greater investigative capacity.
Vice Chancellor Professor Simeon Bamire commended students for their swift action and urged the police and other agencies to deploy all necessary resources. He appealed to anyone with useful information to contact the nearest police station or the university’s Security Unit.
