Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has warned that Nigeria is unlikely to resolve its chronic electricity supply challenges within the next three and a half years, highlighting systemic issues in the power sector.

Speaking at a recent policy forum, Abiodun noted that despite ongoing reforms, constraints in generation, transmission, and distribution will prevent a quick turnaround. “The power sector is complex, and it will take sustained effort over many years before Nigerians experience stable supply,” he said.

The governor urged both federal and state authorities to adopt long-term strategies rather than seeking quick fixes, stressing that incremental improvements, regulatory enforcement, and private sector engagement are key to progress.

Abiodun’s comments come amid public frustration over persistent outages and the government’s repeated assurances of imminent improvement, underscoring the gap between policy promises and on-the-ground realities in Nigeria’s energy landscape.
