Panic gripped residents of Matuak Giwa, a village in Bondon District, Moro’a Chiefdom of Kaura Local Government Area, Kaduna State, after a lightning strike reportedly killed a herder and 12 of his cows during a storm.
Confirming the incident, the Village Head, Chief Simon, explained that the young herder had been seeking shelter from the rain when the lightning struck.
“The herder, a young man, the 12 cows, all died. It was tragic, the community is in shock,” he said.
Ardo Bondon District leader, Mallam Tanko Isiyaka, described the event as frightening and called for prayers and support for the herder’s family, who are from Bauchi State.
The police have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
