Popular Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, has alleged that certain politicians are responsible for the wave of kidnappings recorded in Oyo State.
Speaking on the issue, Igboho claimed he is aware of those behind the insecurity troubling parts of the state, insisting that political actors are complicit in the criminal activities. He called for urgent attention from security agencies and demanded that those involved be exposed and brought to justice.
“I know politicians behind Oyo kidnappings,” Igboho alleged, stressing that the situation is not merely the work of isolated criminal gangs but allegedly has political backing. He argued that the persistent cases of abduction in the state cannot be fully addressed without investigating those he believes are sponsoring or enabling the operations.
The activist, who has previously been vocal on security challenges in the South-West, reiterated his stance that insecurity in the region requires a deeper probe beyond surface-level arrests. He urged the authorities to take intelligence-driven action to dismantle any alleged network behind the kidnappings.
Igboho’s comments come amid growing concerns over rising cases of abductions in parts of Oyo State and other neighbouring areas, which have continued to spark fear among residents and commuters.
Security agencies have not officially responded to his latest allegations at the time of filing this report. However, calls for improved security presence and more proactive measures have continued from community leaders and stakeholders in the state.
The situation remains under public scrutiny as residents await stronger interventions to curb the trend and restore confidence in safety across affected communities.
