Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Udeme Edet has been appointed as the new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Benue State Command. Her appointment was approved by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
DSP Edet steps into the role following the redeployment of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Catherine Anene, who previously held the position.
In a formal statement released on Friday, the outgoing PPRO announced the change in leadership and shared details of her successor’s background. “The Benue State Police Command wishes to inform the general public of the appointment of a new PPRO, following recent administrative postings approved by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun,” the statement read.
DSP Edet previously served as the Divisional Crime Officer at the Ikpai Omni Division in Calabar, Cross River State. A graduate of the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and International Relations.
According to the Command, “The new PPRO, DSP Udeme Edet takes over the duties of public engagement and media relations for the Command.”
The statement also urged the public and media professionals in Benue State to support the new spokesperson as she assumes her duties. “The Command calls on members of the public and the media to extend their usual cooperation and support to her in strengthening police-community relations and promoting public safety across Benue State.”
