Warri, Delta State – Two suspected cultists were killed in a violent clash between rival cult groups around Enerhen Junction, disrupting nightlife and sparking fear among residents.
According to local sources, the violence began on Saturday night at a bar, where a confrontation escalated after a group reportedly flashed a torchlight into the faces of others who were drinking. Gunfire broke out, resulting in the death of one individual on the spot. In what appeared to be a revenge attack, members of the opposing group allegedly mobilized on Monday, killing a member of the other faction.
A female resident, who requested anonymity, described the tense encounter: “The problem began at a bar. Some boys were drinking when about three others walked in and used their torchlight on their faces. That’s when the shooting started.” The deadly altercation has since created a climate of fear in the Enerhen area.
“Since this trouble started, most residents have been avoiding sit-outs at night. These cultists are unpredictable. They can strike at any time,” said Charles, a local resident. The incident has also impacted local businesses, particularly bars and relaxation centers that previously kept late hours. Many have now closed early or shut down entirely in response to the violence. Residents are urging security agencies to intensify patrols and restore safety in the area.
