Following the jailbreak at the Ilesa Medium Correctional Centre in Osun State, security has been significantly increased around the facility. Armed personnel from the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been deployed to the Ayeso area, where the centre is located.
Journalists visiting the area were denied access to the facility, but heavily armed and hooded operatives could be seen guarding the perimeter.
Joel Oyedokun, the Public Relations Officer of the Osun Correctional Command, confirmed the heightened security measures and stated that the State Commandant has relocated to Ilesa to directly oversee the manhunt for the escapees. He also noted that the Army and DSS are actively collaborating with correctional authorities to recapture those who fled during the incident.
