The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council (JCC), Ondo State axis, has expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the killing of yet another female student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), describing it as part of a troubling wave of violence targeting the student community.
In a statement issued by its chairman, Comrade Adekanye Mayomi, NANS lamented that the latest tragedy occurred while the campus was still mourning the brutal deaths of two other students.
“The incessant killings are a clear indication of a security lapse that must be addressed urgently,” Mayomi said.
NANS strongly condemned the attacks and called on the Ondo State Government and security agencies to:
- Swiftly identify and arrest the perpetrators,
- Implement effective and lasting security measures within AAUA and its environs,
- And ensure the safety of all students on and off campus.
The student body also urged the university management to organize safety and lifestyle orientation programs for students to raise awareness and enhance their personal security.
NANS pledged not to remain passive while lives are being lost and extended condolences to the bereaved families. It also called on all well-meaning Nigerians to join in demanding justice and improved security for students across the state.
