The Lagos State Police Command has taken into custody officers involved in a shooting that killed two passersby in Alagbado.
The incident occurred while the officers were pursuing suspected criminals, during which gunshots were accidentally discharged. The shooting sparked concern among residents, prompting rapid action by the police to maintain order.
Command spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi confirmed on her X account that the officers were apprehended on Friday and are being held pending investigation. “The officers implicated in the unfortunate incident had been taken into custody pending further investigation,” she said.
Adebisi added that Commissioner of Police Mr. Olohundare Jimoh has ordered a thorough probe into the circumstances of the shooting. Additional security personnel have been deployed to the area to ensure public safety.
The spokesperson noted that normalcy has been restored and assured residents that justice will be served, with the investigation’s outcome made public in due course.
